Behind the tool

Departing from the fluidity of traditional glassblowing, it harnesses the crystallization of glass powder under heat, shaping each piece with a distinct sculptural presence and gentle translucency.

Excess powder can be reclaimed and reused — a process both sustainable and precise, where beauty and responsibility meet in form.

While most frit-fired works lack heat resistance, Short Whisk and its partnering artist refined both the material and the firing process to create a matcha bowl that pairs artistry with lasting performance.

Our Story

Short Whisk began in a quiet corner of our home, where making matcha slowly became a ritual of recovery — and a way of being.
